Rudolf Steiner wrote, "Only a person who has passed through the gate of humility can ascend to the heights of spirit." I read this earlier and contemplated the recent completion of the shishi odoshi gate. This got me thinking about other gates in my life. I constructed the main one to the garden and the area around it 25 years ago. In that time hundreds have passed through it each year for a variety of reasons. I can't say I had humility in mind when I built it, but I know I have experienced many humbling events since that time. I have decided to rebuild the entire area and this time with the intention of "striving for opportunities." I look forward to this journey and sharing it with those that may find insight and opportunities of their own.
