Water is of the highest excellence
For it benefits all and does not resist nor create rancor
It flows in places others scorn
It is the closest to the Tao
Thus when the goal of the farmer is to make the land beautiful,
When the goal of the mind is to have depth,
When the goal of friendship is love,
When the goal of talk is truth,
When the goal of government is goodness in the highest order,
When the goal of business is value,
When the goal of action is timeliness,
The to goal of the Tao is peace.
